Commewijne River Cruise

The top attraction of the Commewijne River is a historic River Cruise with a visit to Plantation Resort Frederiksdorp as the highlight. The district of Commewijne is located just east of Paramaribo on the other side of the Suriname River. During this trip, we visit several villages where sugar, cocoa, coffee and cotton plantations used to have their glory period. You also visit the outdoor museum Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam, Plantation Rust & Werk and Plantation Resort Frederiksdorp.

Frederiksdorp has an exquisite character and stands out between surrounding plantations, fishing villages, sea beaches, mangrove forests, bird swans, dolphins and beautiful, long cycling and hiking trails. At the resort, you can enjoy a delicious lunch in a complete colonial atmosphere. After the lunch, you can go for a historic walk around the formerly flourishing coffee plantation. Then we step back onto the boat in search of the friendly and playful Surinamese dolphins, better known as the Profosu.

Around 5.00 pm we will have arrived back at the Marinetrap.
